The Christian life requires spiritual unity among the brethren and we
should be on one accord. There may be some things that are not understood by
all at some point but singleness of heart and a steadfast love for each other
should enable us to be unified. The record of the early church depicts a
joyous united association on a daily basis of all believers. Those Christians
then had differences I would think that parallel the ones that we have today
and the record shows that they were on one accord. (Acts 2:46) We did not
always agree with the mandates of mom and dad but we obeyed and aligned
ourselves with the family and ate the meat that they provided and enjoyed the
comforts of a unified home. The dwelling place must have cooperation and unity.
This Christian life is a wonderful endeavor and must be sought after by
peaceful means and in the unity of the Spirit. (Eph 4:3) We have been called to
pursue the knowledge of the Son of God together until we know and are complete.
(Jn 8:31-32) Knowledge of the truth will make us free and we can achieve that
maturity and unity of the Spirit. (Eph 4:13) We will be greatly benefited when
we have fully grasped the fact that we are the temple of God. That temple
should not be profaned with idols, evil relations or with worldly lusts. The
temple is where God dwells and is not wood, brick and mortar, but our fleshly
bodies that have been cleansed through obedience to our Lord Jesus. The things
that are done in our bodies must agree with the word of God as it relates to us
as His children. God has promised to be our God and accept us as His people
when our lives are consistent and agree with His requirements. (2 Cor 6:16) He
requires that we please Him by keeping his words, and we should experience for
ourselves "how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity"
as we continue to share the joy. (Psa 133:1)
